Longcat - A Clever Grid Filling Logic Puzzle

Longcat is a minimalist logic puzzle game created by Martin Magni, the developer behind the creative platform Fancade. The concept is simple to understand but surprisingly challenging to master. Players control a stretchy cat that must fill every empty square on a grid. The puzzle is not about speed or reflexes but about planning movements carefully so the board can be completely covered without leaving unreachable spaces.

Core Gameplay Objective

The goal of each level in Longcat is to fill every empty square on the board using the cat's body. As the cat moves, its body extends across tiles until it reaches an obstacle. The level is completed only when the entire grid is filled with no empty spaces remaining. If the player traps the cat in a position where some tiles cannot be reached, the puzzle becomes impossible and must be restarted. Because of this, careful planning is required from the very first move.

Increasing Puzzle Complexity

The game features 50 levels that gradually increase in difficulty. Early puzzles use small grids such as 3 x 3 or 4 x 4 boards to introduce the mechanics. As the game progresses, larger maps appear with more obstacles and more complicated layouts.

Later levels require advanced planning and often force players to think backwards. In many situations, you must consider the final moves first and then work out how to reach that configuration without blocking important pathways.
